New from Weise for winter 2018/19, Malmo gloves offer warmth and waterproofing in a light and flexible design that’s packed with practical features.
Construction is a mix of full-grain leather on the palm – the rest of the outer shell IS made from textile material, with padding at the knuckles, palms, fingers and thumbs.
A Chamude® overlay panel, complete with silicon print, gives improved grip on the bars – ideal in cold and wet conditions.
Hands stay dry thanks to a waterproof, windproof and breathable liner, and insulation is provided by a Thinsulate™ G60 thermal lining, which retains most of its insulating ability even under damp conditions.
The linings are held in place with the McFIT system, so there is no uncomfortable stitching or seams digging into the hand, and the liners stay firmly in place without twisting or pulling free.
Velcro® closure at the cuff and an elasticated wrist section give a snug fit under or over winter riding jackets, and help to seal out cold air and rain.
Bike thieves attempting to steal a scooter in Hull were foiled thanks to a KOVIX alarmed chain lock, which resisted attacks from three different heavy duty cutting tools.
Starting with a blow torch, the thieves tried to breach the cast steel lock casing. When that failed, they took an angle grinder to one of the 10mm chain links, without success. Finally they resorted to bolt-croppers, but these merely dented the chain link, without making a serious impression.
Incredibly the 120db alarm still worked after the onslaught and the owner was so impressed that he returned to the shop where he purchased the lock to buy a replacement.
The Metropolitan Police advise riders to use two or more security devices to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of bike theft and, by combining a deafening alarm siren with a high specification lock & chain, the KOVIX KCL10-150 is a formidable double-act.
Its 1.5M long hexagonal chain has 10 mm diameter hardened steel links, which are highly resistant to cutting and sawing, and the lock mechanism has a stainless steel case and key barrel, with a hardened steel lock pin, so it is equally tough and durable. The 120db alarm has shock and movement sensors and is powered by a long-life lithium battery.
KOVIX design and manufacture a wide range of intelligent security products in their own factory, giving them total control over specification and quality.
Adaptable, protective, comfortable and practical, the new Weise® Onyx Evo four-season jacket offers all-seasons’ riders the high specification, materials and features they demand without a premium price tag.
ADAPTABLE THROUGH THE SEASONS
The Onyx Evo has a waterproof, windproof and breathable drop liner, for rainy conditions, and a 150-gram thermal quilted lining, plus a zip-on face mask, to keep out the cold. When the temperature rises, both linings can be removed and zipped vents can be opened up on the chest, arms and back, for cooling airflow.
Removable Knox® MICRO-LOCK CE-approved armour features at the shoulders, elbows and back. This is soft to the touch and flexible, but locks when impacted, increasing the amount of energy absorbed by the protector.
Velcro® adjusters at the waist and base of the Onyx, plus popper adjustments to the upper and lower arms and upper torso, reduce billowing at speed and prevent chill winds from creeping in. Stretch panels to the elbows assist in flexibility and freedom of movement.
A selection of external and internal pockets, as well as a large pocket to the rear, (ideal for carrying a pair of waterproof over-trousers), offer plenty of storage for wallet, keys, etc.
The WEISE Onyx Evo comes in sizes S – 5XL in a choice of classic Black or Navy Blue.
Buffalo’s new Atom jacket combines tough 600 denier Ripstop Nylon with full-grain leather panels to create a jacket with the power to last.
CE-approved shoulder and elbow protection is fitted as standard, with the option to fit a back protector, and the shoulders are reinforced with TPU inner cups and external sliders.
Weather-proofing is provided by a waterproof, windproof and breathable drop lining, plus a removable 120-gram thermal quilted lining. When the temperature rises, ventilation at the shoulders, upper arms and rear of the jacket can be opened to allow cooling airflow.
An adjustable twin belt system at the waist and Velcro-retained adjusters at the collar and cuffs provide a snug and comfortable fit, Velcro adjusters on the arms prevent annoying ‘billowing’ and an 8-inch trouser connection zip prevents the jacket from riding up.
Topping off the impressive specification are two external hand-warmer pockets and three internal pockets.

Peter Hickman made 2018 a year to remember at the Isle of Man TT, winning a sensational Senior race and setting a new outright lap record – the first ever 135mph+ lap of the Mountain Course.
The 31-year old – who was born in the same year that Weise was founded – has been supported by the British brand for 10 years. He made his dramatic debut at the TT in 2014 in a Weise suit, when he rode into the history books as the fastest TT newcomer, and he believes that riders need the best kit to win. Of this year’s lap record, Hickman said;
“That’s the hardest I’ve ever ridden a bike and to be able to do that I have to have confidence in my equipment. Weise have been a part of my journey for so long and I’m made up to be able to share this success with them”
Since its launch in 1987, Weise has been involved in the drive to improve rider safety, joining a working group at the ACU (Auto Cycle Union – the governing body of British motorcycle sport), to write a manufacturing guideline for racing suits. In the 1990s Weise was an early adopter of impact protection, made to the newly-introduced CE standard.
Today, regular road riders can share in the same race-bred technology and commitment to quality that Peter Hickman relies on, with products like the Weise Corsa RS leather jacket and jeans.
This race-style leather jacket is made from natural milled leather, with CE approved shoulder, elbow and back armour. Stretch panels aid fit and comfort and a removable 120-gram thermal quilted lining allows the wearer to keep riding when the temperature drops.
The jacket attaches to the matching Corsa RS jeans with an internal zipper. Produced using 1.2mm-1.4mm leather, with CE approved knee armour and stretch panels to aid movement, these ergonomic sport jeans are available in regular and short leg lengths.
The Weise Corsa RS jacket sells for £199.99 and the matching jeans are £179.99. For complete peace of mind, all Weise products are covered by a two-year warranty.
Vietnam; an amazing, exotic country; where the temperature can drop to freezing in the northern mountains and well over 40C in the south. The weather is constantly challenging: 100% humidity, tropical storms, floods and typhoons. There are great, empty, sweeping country roads, chaotic city traffic and slippery jungle trails. To say nothing of close encounters with water buffalo, monkeys, dangerous snakes and other wild animals. In other words, it’s a biker’s paradise. But only if you’re wearing the right gear, which is why Hawk, Senior Tour Leader at Hoi An Motorcycle Adventures, wears a Wiese Airspin jacket in black & neon. For someone who rides everyday it’s perfect. It has loads of mesh panels to cope with the heat, but it’s also got a warm, removable, thermal liner for winter and it’s waterproof too. It’s also got armour that feels thinner, lighter and stronger than in most jackets, which is very useful, because riding in those conditions, even the most experienced riders can have an off. And one final thing, it looks so damn cool, even the water buffalo are impressed.

Fully weatherproof module, which can be removed and replaced by the owner
Option to turn the alarm function on or off, to suit the circumstances
Long life lithium battery
Kovix also produce a range of practical accessories, including 1.5M cables with an adapter that attaches to their disc locks (£34.99), lock holders, so that disc locks can be carried on the bike while riding between stops (£12.99) and disc lock reminders (£4.99).
Retail prices for alarmed disc locks start at £59.99 for the KD6, (pictured above), which has a steel body and 6mm locking pin.
Alarmed chain lock prices begin at £74.99 for the KCL8-120, which features an ultra-strong lock unit that is welded to the 1.2M chain.
Some products in the range, like the KBL16 alarmed padlock (£94.99), are so tough that they are tested and certified to Classe SRA, the French security standard that is required by insurers in that country.
All Kovix locks come with numbered keys, which can be replaced by most key-cutters using a unique code, without needing to copy the original.
